The confusion is understandable and it has three causes. The packaging leads with the sub-brand, so "Luxio" reads as a standalone company. Retailers merchandise parent and child names interchangeably in a single breadcrumb — our own collection is literally titled "Akzentz Hard Gels & Luxio Gel Nail Polish." And the product formats overlap: Luxio Build is a soak-off builder in a polish bottle, while Pro-Formance is a file-off hard gel in a pot, and both of them "build." Luxio — The Pure Gel Color System

Luxio is marketed as 100% pure gel, and that phrase carries real technical meaning rather than being a slogan. A hybrid gel polish blends traditional lacquer chemistry with gel — it contains evaporative solvents and plasticizers like butyl acetate, ethyl acetate, and acetyl tributyl citrate, often with nitrocellulose. A true gel contains none of that. It is an oligomer and monomer photopolymer that hardens only through free-radical photopolymerization when the lamp's wavelength triggers the photoinitiators.

What that means at the desk:

• Minimal shrinkage. Nothing evaporates during cure, so there is no volume loss and no shrink-back at the free edge — the most common cause of that thin dark line appearing at the tip on day four.
• Stable viscosity in the bottle. A solvent-carrying hybrid thickens over its life as solvent escapes past the cap. A pure gel does not, so the shade you apply in month eight behaves like the one you applied in week one.
• Self-levelling that you can trust. Luxio settles into a flat film if you give it a moment before curing, which is what makes thin coats practical rather than streaky.
• No odour. Solvents are what you smell. Remove them and the service is odourless, which matters in a room shared with other treatments.
• Color stability. No solvent migration means less yellowing and less shift over the wear period.

A Note on HEMA — Be Precise Here

This one gets repeated wrong constantly, so we want to state it exactly. Akzentz says Luxio gels are developed without the use of HEMA — the color gels are HEMA-monomer free. But the brand's own asterisk is explicit: Luxio Gloss and the Luxio Effects products do contain small amounts of HEMA. So "the Luxio color range is formulated without HEMA monomer" is accurate. "Luxio is HEMA-free" is not, and if you have a HEMA-sensitized client that distinction is the whole conversation. Check the top coat and the effects products specifically. Akzentz calls the underlying formulation Diamond Strength Technology, which is their term for a high degree of molecular cross-linking producing a dense, non-porous cured film. The practical consequence is that Pro-Formance is not soak-off. It files off, which suits us fine — the protection layer e-file method is how we remove everything anyway.

The line is organised by viscosity and job, which is the useful way to think about it:

• Trinity — thin, self-levelling, 3-in-1 base, builder and shine. Trinity Clear is crystal-clear with a blue/violet undertone that prevents yellowing. The Trinity Shades (SC1, SC2, SN1, SN2, SW1, SW2) run cool, neutral and warm undertones in light coverage. This is the entry point for natural nail overlays.
• Enhance — medium-thin. Enhance Clear and Enhance Translucent Pink rate 5/5 strength with 0/5 coverage; the shade versions (Soft Pink, Soft Peach, Cool White) add natural-looking coverage. Overlays and fills.
• Balance — medium viscosity, self-levels but does not run into the cuticle. Balance Clear is the workhorse. Balance Foundation in Nude, Pink and Blush gives complete nail bed concealment for competition-style work; Balance Coverage in Warm Pink and Cool Pink is the everyday version.
• Control and Formation — the whites. Control Natural White and Control Ultra White are medium and self-levelling; Formation White is thick viscosity for maximum architectural control. Both are built for French work and crisp extensions.
• Structure — classic thick viscosity for maximum control, strength and durability. Apex building and repairs.
• Ultra Gloss — the brush-on hard gel top gloss, stain proof.

Using All Three Together — The Full Akzentz System Service

Here is what a complete in-system service looks like from start to finish.

1. Prep. Russian manicure dry prep — e-file the surface to remove shine, cuticle bit work with a flame or ball bit, sidewalls cleaned, no water anywhere near it.
2. Dehydrate and prime. Sure-Bond as the non-acid pH balancer. Let it flash off fully before anything else touches the plate.
3. Base. Luxio Gel Base for a healthy plate. X-Bond if the nail is thin, flexible or over-filed. Super-Bond if the client's nails run oily and you have fought lifting with them before. These replace your base rather than layering under one.
