How to Apply Our Chunk Glitters: A Mini-Tutorial

Achieving a flawless, show-stopping glitter look is easier than you think! Here are two popular methods:

Method 1: Encapsulation for Smooth, Long-Lasting Designs (Recommended for Gel & Acrylic)

1. Prep the Nail: Perform your standard nail prep (file, buff, cuticle care, dehydrator, primer). Apply your base coat and cure.

2. Color Base (Optional): Apply 1-2 coats of your desired gel polish color and cure each coat. This will be the background for your glitter.

3. Apply a Thin Layer of Builder/Hard Gel: Apply a very thin slip layer of clear builder gel or hard gel. Do NOT cure yet. This tacky layer will act as the adhesive for your glitter.

4. Place the Glitter:

   • For full coverage: Lightly sprinkle or scoop the glitter over the uncured gel, ensuring even distribution.

   • For specific designs/placement: Use a dotting tool, wax picker, or a dampened brush to carefully pick up and place individual glitter chunks onto the wet gel layer.

5. Cure & Encapsulate: Once satisfied with the glitter placement, cure the nail.

6. Cap with Builder/Hard Gel: Apply another layer of clear builder gel or hard gel over the entire nail to fully encapsulate the glitter. This step is crucial for a smooth surface and durability. Cure again.

7. Shape & Finish: Wipe off the inhibition layer, then file and shape the nail to smooth out any bumps from the glitter and create your desired nail architecture.

8. Top Coat: Apply your favorite top coat for ultimate shine and protection, then cure.

Method 2: Pressing into Tacky Layer (For Gel Polish Art)

1. Prep & Base Coat: Perform standard nail prep, apply and cure your base coat.

2. Color Base: Apply 1-2 coats of your desired gel polish color and cure each coat. Most gel polishes leave a tacky inhibition layer after curing.

3. Apply Glitter:

   • For full coverage: Lightly press or pat the glitter directly onto the tacky layer using a dry brush or your finger (wear gloves!).

   • For accents: Use a silicone tool, dotting tool, or a fan brush to pick up and apply glitter to specific areas.

4. Brush Off Excess: Gently brush away any loose glitter with a soft, dry brush.

5. Top Coat: Apply two layers of your favorite top coat, curing each layer, to fully seal and protect the glitter. This helps prevent the glitter from flaking off. For extra longevity, you can use a slightly thicker top coat or a thin layer of builder gel before your final top coat.
