Essential Nail Preparation

Proper preparation is the most critical step for a chip-free, long-lasting Luxio manicure.

  1. Shape and Buff: Gently file the free edge of your nail into your desired shape. Using a fine-grit buffer (180-240 grit), lightly and carefully remove the natural shine from the entire nail plate. The goal is to create a fine, matte texture for the gel to adhere to—do not over-file!

  2. Cuticle Care: Gently push back the eponychium (live skin) and carefully remove any dead skin (cuticle) from the nail plate. Keeping the nail plate completely clean is essential.

  3. Dehydrate and Cleanse: Saturate a lint-free wipe with Akzentz Prep & Wipe (or 99% Isopropyl Alcohol) and thoroughly scrub the entire nail surface, sidewalls, and free edge. This removes dust, oils, and contaminants.

Luxio Base Application (Standard)

The base coat creates the foundation for your manicure and ensures great adhesion.

  1. Apply Luxio Base: Apply a very thin, scrubbed-in layer of Luxio Base Coat. Ensure you "cap" the free edge by running the brush tip horizontally across the tip of the nail. This seals the manicure.

  2. Cure: Cure the base coat in an LED lamp for 30 seconds (or 2 minutes in a UV lamp).

Optional Strength Step: Akzentz Trinity Gel Overlay

If your natural nails are weak, bendy, or you desire the strength of a structured manicure, apply Akzentz Pro-Formance Trinity Gel over the cured Luxio Base. Trinity is a 3-in-1 builder that acts as a base, builder, and shine.

  1. Apply Trinity (Scrub Coat): Apply a thin, scrubbed layer of Trinity to the entire nail plate. Cure for 30 seconds.

  2. Apply Trinity (Structure Layer): Float a bead of Trinity gel onto the center of the nail, allowing it to self-level slightly to create a subtle apex (the slight curve that adds strength). Avoid flooding the cuticle. Cure for 30 seconds.

  3. Refine (Optional): If needed, wipe the sticky layer with Prep & Wipe, gently file the surface to perfect the shape, and cleanse again. This smooth surface is now ready for Luxio Color.

Luxio Color and Top Coat

Luxio colors are known for their rich pigmentation and smooth, self-leveling nature.

Luxio Color Application

  1. First Color Coat: Apply a very thin, even layer of your chosen Luxio Colour. Start in the center and work toward the cuticle line, and then down to the free edge.

    • Pro Tip: Use a light touch and try to "float" the brush near the cuticle area without touching the skin.

    • Cap the Edge: Always cap the free edge with every coat (base, color, and top) to maximize durability.

  2. Cure: Cure the first coat for 30 seconds (LED) or 2 minutes (UV).

  3. Second Color Coat: Apply a second thin, even layer for full opacity and depth of color. Cure for 30 seconds.

    • Note: Some highly pigmented Luxio shades, like the deep red Roulette or the classic black Noir, may achieve full coverage in one coat, but two thin coats are always recommended for durability.

Popular Luxio Colors to Try:

Shade Name Description Finish
Pebble A sophisticated, earthy beige-grey neutral. Cream
Coy A beautiful, sheer milky pink, perfect for a subtle look. Sheer Cream
Afterglow A stunning, warm rose gold glitter/shimmer. Shimmer/Glitter
Polar A clean, bright white for perfect tips or full coverage. Cream
Marina A rich, deep jewel-toned blue. Cream

Akzentz Top Coat Application

  1. Apply Akzentz Shine-on: Apply a smooth, medium layer of Akzentz shine-on to the entire nail surface, ensuring you cap the free edge one final time.

  2. Final Cure: Cure one last time in an LED lamp for 30 seconds (or 2 minutes under UV).

  3. Wipe the Inhibition Layer: Luxio Gloss leaves a sticky residue (known as the inhibition layer). Remove this with a clean gel wipe moistened with Prep & Wipe.

Safe Luxio Removal

Luxio is a soak-off formula, allowing for gentle removal.

  1. Break the Seal: Lightly file the surface of the cured top coat using a medium-grit file (180 grit) to remove all the shine. This breaks the seal and allows the remover to penetrate the gel.

  2. Saturate and Wrap: Soak a cotton ball or pad completely with pure acetone or Akzentz Soak-Off Solution. Place the saturated cotton directly onto the nail plate.

  3. Foil Wrap: Wrap a small piece of aluminum foil tightly around the cotton and your fingertip. This traps the heat and speeds up the removal process.

  4. Soak: Leave the wraps on for 10 to 15 minutes.

  5. Remove: Unwrap one finger at a time. The gel should look softened and flaky. Gently lift away the softened gel using a wooden cuticle stick or a metal pusher. Do not scrape aggressively. If the gel is stubborn, re-wrap it for another 5 minutes.

  6. Aftercare: Cleanse any residue with Prep & Wipe, lightly buff the natural nail if needed, and generously apply a high-quality cuticle oil to rehydrate your nails and skin.
